THE BAND
A POWERTRIO in search of the razor-sharp edge between heavy and punk. Rats and Daggers focuses the intention of IDLES, the schwung of QOTSA and the fuck-it-all attitude of Amyl and The Sniffers into flying punkrock projectiles that awaken moshpits instantaneously. Live they are both disarming and exceptionally expressive whilst they play energetic, sincere punk straight from the tips of their toes. Sure to stir everyone in the room and offer them a moment of temporary escape.
In 2022 they played Popronde as a Never Mind the Hype talent, they supported bands as LIFE and Sprints and released their debut EP RATS and DAGGERS with Lay Bare Recordings in a sold out DBs. They organized the second sold out edition of the Beware of Banshees festival in the Nijverheid: a festival with a new norm in gender diversity. In 2023 you can see them at Sniester Festival, as support for Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs and Screaming Females and much much more.
RATS and DAGGERS debut EP
Rats and Daggers released their debut EP 'RATS and DAGGERS' November 2022 with Lay Bare Recordings. A two-faced 10" vinyl in honour of their band name. RATS: a dark sludgy side to feed your inner vermin and DAGGERS: a sharp and explosive side to get you right on edge.
The sold out release show was December 8 in DBs Utrecht with SULTAN. and Knife Massage.
THE MEMBERS
Rats and Daggers exists of Imara Speek on vocals and guitar, Camilo Ulloa on bass and Sander Koene on drums. The power trio makes it sounds as if there's more people hiding on stage, but perhaps that's the dirty low bass and creepy horror punk vibes messing with your head when you see them playing live.
Their songs are layered in metaphors and catchy tong twisters, allowing Imara to draw you in with theatrical storytelling whilst Sander and Camilo pull you deeper in with dirty, dark funky beats sure to cause a stir.
